Gun Dog Training

Salty Creek Kennels offers gun dog training beginning at 5-6 months of age and lasting 4-5 months in duration. We strongly believe the foundation of every great gun dog begins with obedience. The first 4-6 weeks of your dog's training will consist of basic obedience and collar conditioning. This sets your dog up for success in the field, but also ensures you have a great family companion to enjoy outside of hunting season. 

Force fetch begins at a minimum of 6 months of age once your dog has successfully completed obedience training. After force fetch your dog will continue his training and begin learning to run marks. Your dog will be running single and double marks by the conclusion of their basic gun dog training. 

The basic gun dog package includes obedience training, force fetch, and consists of single and double marks.

Advanced gun dog training is an 8-9 month program. The advanced gun dog program includes our basic package plus hand signals. We recommend dog's complete our basic gun dog program and then spend a season hunting before returning for advance gun dog training the following year. 

Salty Creek Kennels also offers pre-season tune ups. This program is a great option to get your seasoned dog back in tip top shape for hunting season.
